A new hobby...

I need a way to relax and this has become one way to do that. I like the consistently of it - the rhythm. Of course I only know one 'knit' but it's a great way to unwind. I don't know if I will ever get to the point of getting as elaborate as T's work or as fancy as Birgit's, but at least I feel the muscles unknot in my neck and back as I get in the rhythm. My mom is going to LOVE this surprise!

Each Journey Has a Beginning

Today was the "official" start to this year's goals. I know, I didn't start on New Year's day. WHY? I needed to have my two greasy fried eggs, a staple after a heavy night of drinking. Plus, I really wanted to enjoy my time off since it really infrequently happens that I don't have to think of work. No work = time enjoyed to the max

So, today, I tried to make little changes. Breakfast was a flop since it was our catered goals meeting for work. Either I eat at home and go full or eat what the selection was. No holds barred! In fact, I sort of forget that I was even making the effort. For lunch I remembered and tried. A salad with a few bad ingredients. Since when have I ever wanted dressing? I did get a workout in too. This was an extreme effort considering that I stared at cobwebs during it.
I took photos, measurements both which enforced that I need to do this. Got groceries and a game plan for the week. I can't wait to get Lisa Smith's notes on "commit to be fit" to help me stick with it.

My Mugshot

All right, to know where you are going, you have to know where you have been, right? I know it hasn't been long since I have been at this challenge, but I have to share my starting point. My biggest obstacle of all time is losing weight. One day I woke up and *boom* I had gained weight. 50 lbs. to be exactly since Rick and I met. 5-0!! Some days I look in the mirror and wonder what he sees.....Really? I don't get it. So, as motivation to myself I am posting ... ugh .... my "before" photo. Now this is only my face but I know that there will be noticeable changes after weeks so stay tuned for the results. I'm excited to see them too!
Disclaimer: This photo is after working out and with no make-up.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Lisa spoiled me with a road trip to Pewabic Pottery and lunch at MexicanTown for my birthday and a side trip to Ikea unplanned. The trip was delayed because of my lovely wisdom teeth extraction. However, I wouldn't of had it any other way. Taking a little road trip while on vacation is probably one of the most relaxing things possible - no pressure to get chores done, no time constraints, no deadlines.....this translates into the perfect birthday gift. Thank you Lisa!! Love to my lady!
